I was taking Jewelry courses on a Graduate level at New Paltz University when
I had to take an enameling class to stay in the program. I was not pleased with this at all and for
two months I struggled terribly with it. Then something clicked. The beauty of the medium seduced
me.
Enamel Jewelry is made by the fusion of Glass and Metal. Finely ground glass is applied to Sterling
Silver or 18K Gold, and then fired in a kiln at 1500 degrees. The glass melts and adheres to the
metal producing a brilliant surface that will maintain its clarity for centuries. There is always
an element of mystery for me as my pieces are conceived, worked on and completed.
The Enamel is applied in many thin layers, and each piece is fired numerous times; developing the
design within the layers of glass. The techniques I use are Cloisonne, Champleve, Basse Taille, Limoge,
and Collage with Ceramic Transfers.
I produce both one of a kind work as well as limited edition pieces. Many styles are offered for
each design.
It is very important to me that my work is highly wearable so I design with this in mind. I love
color and am always discovering new combinations to build on. I combine my work with precious and
semi- precious stones that are either set into the Enamel or used as a backdrop for the pieces.
Pictured below is a small sampling of my designs. You are welcome to call for a Brochure.
